Introducing the Canadian Provinces Gold 500+ Award

Introducing the Gold 500+ Award, starting November 1 2003 earn points toward this new level award.
The goal is to earn 500 points to achieve this beautiful award. Also to encourage Canadian Amateurs to participate in
Canadian Nets we are offering 1 bonus point for each contact made while acting as a Net Control Station on any Canadian Net.
Example: If you take a spot on the Trans Provincial Net and get 30 checkins during your hour you  receive 30 bonus points for logged stations.
The following nets have given approval for this operation.
Trans Provincial Net
Ontario Amateur Radio Service
Laurentian Net
Note: Please check with the Net Manager of the net you participate in for approval. It is not recommended to work on this award on NTS or ARES Nets, as these nets are for formal traffic handling and emergency preparedness.
Sample Certificate
All Amateur Radio Stations or, SWL's, are invited to cross Canada via Radio and contact as many stations in as many Canadian Provinces as possible....."Canadians talking to Canadians"..... and earn points towards the
Canadian Provinces Award.
  • Contacts made in your own Province              1 point.
  • Contacts made in adjoining Provinces             2 points.
  • Contacts made in next removed Provinces      3 points. (and so on, each new province counts for another point.) 
  • North West Territories, 1 point from adjoining provinces. 
  • Labrador, 1 point from adjoining provinces.
  • Note: USA stations can "adopt" nearest Canadian provinces as "own", i.e; N Y - Ont. Mass - Que., etc.

    Bonus points apply both ways, both stations.

  • Portables, Mobiles, Islands   1 extra point
  • Marine Mobiles                    2 extra points
  • Air/Bike & other mobiles      5 extra points
  • Note: Portable stations outside Canada to be considered as Home Base
    Note: Portable stations inside Canada to count as New Province
  • QSO with RAC, RAQI, Clara or ARRL members                1 point
  • QSO with member of any radio Club                                    1 point
  • QSO with CPA certificate holders Bronze, Silver or Gold      2 points
  • QSO with VE/VA in another language, both ways                 1 point
  • Secial Event stations                                                              5 points
  • Total of Points reqiured
      • 100 points for the Bronze category
      • 200 points for the Silver category 
      • 300 points for the Gold category 
      • 500 points for the Gold 500+ category
      Family Category.
      An extra award given free to husband-wife or other family combinations such as father-son, mother-daughter, in-laws, etc.

      - Any Band. Any Mode. Stations may be worked ONLY ONCE per mode, per band
      - Net check-ins accepted.
      - No QSL cards required.

      Please submit a copy of logged contacts, showing DATE, MODE, FREQUENCY, CALL SIGN, QTH, NAME, PROVINCE & points claimed  with a total score & ALPHABETICAL LIST OF CONTACTS TO AVOID DUPLICATIONS, together with a $5.00 cheque or money order to cover costs to:
